DEXA Licensed - Mobile Health Technician
Licensed DEXA Technician
Are you tired of your DEXA certification sitting underused in a clinic shift or a sales-driven screening job? As a Licensed DEXA Technician at BodySpec, you'll put your California BDEO certification to work the way it's meant to be used — one-on-one scans that actually help people understand their bodies, with no cold-calling, no client book to build, and no quotas. You'll be at the heart of numerous health journeys, celebrating successes and offering support in a role that's as rewarding as it is dynamic.
First-year Licensed DEXA Technicians in the South Bay can expect to earn up to $77,086 in total cash compensation, plus equity.
You'll Love This Job If You Have:
- Passion for Preventive Health: You believe health is about more than treating illness — you want to help people understand their bodies and reach their goals.
- Customer Service Instincts: You love one-on-one interaction and creating great experiences. You're warm, professional, and can make anyone feel comfortable — without the pressure of building your own book of business.
- Startup Energy: You're energized by variety and building something new. Traditional healthcare feels slow and bureaucratic to you. You want to be part of a small, dynamic team where your work actually matters.
- Grit and Flexibility: You don't mind early mornings or getting your hands dirty. You're resourceful — when something's broken, you fix it or propose solutions instead of waiting for someone else.
- Ready to Work, Not Ready to Wait: You're already BDEO-certified and want to put that license into practice immediately — not spend months in a training pipeline before you start making an impact.
What Will You Do?
- Work in our storefronts or directly in the community, driving our mobile scan vans to community centers, gyms, workplaces, health fairs, clinics, and other locations.
- Perform DEXA scans from day one using your existing BDEO certification, backed by a hands-on BodySpec onboarding — including a team immersion week in Austin, TX — to get you fluent in our scan protocols, equipment, and customer experience standards.
- Take ownership of your events from setup to tear down, exemplifying excellence in service delivery and customer service — all while making a genuinely positive impact on dozens of people each day.
- Handle general administrative and maintenance-related duties related to our storefront, machines, vans, and equipment.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the Leadership Team.
Requirements
- Must currently hold an active California BDEO (Bone Densitometry Equipment Operator) certification issued by the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch.
- This is a standing role with rolling start dates — no fixed cohort or class to wait for.
- Available to work one of the following consistent schedules: Sunday–Thursday (Friday & Saturday off). Event times typically run 7am–8pm depending on location; earlier start times may be required to accommodate drive time so you're on-site and ready for clients at 7am.
- Based in Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, or the surrounding area.
- If you've taken standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, ASVAB, or others, we ask you to share your scores. This isn't required and won't be a sole factor in hiring, but it helps us learn more about candidates since we don't run pre-employment testing.
- Valid driver's license and a driving record in good standing.
- Able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to thrive with direct, unfiltered feedback — we'll tell you exactly what you need to improve.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $33.02/hour ($68,682 annualized at 40 hrs/week)
